Google is partnering with gBox to launch a DRM free alternative to iTunes. The service is supposed to be independent of Google’s current music search.

Another step where google is taking more of the top 10 SERP listings and filling them with it’s own properties and/or partner listings.

"Another step where google is taking more of the top 10 SERP listings and filling them with it’s own properties and/or partner listings. " YouTube ranks on Google because people link to it. Haven’t you figured that out by now? According to Site Explorer: 3,366,231 links to the home page. 39,063,238 links to the domain. If 39 million links don’t get you to the front page of Google, nothing will.

Why would Google create an online music store of it’s own when they can just eventually buy these guys....which seems to make sense considering all of the recent buying they’ve done. And if you’re gBox, I have to think that’s been the plan all along. Is there any coincidence that this company named itself gBox to begin with? It’s kinda genius, right? Create a company that sounds Google-esque with a business model that plugs a hole in the Google dike. Smart.
