Very interesting post by Shaun at Hobo SEO ... has Google stopped boosting fresh content? Could be a glitch, could be the end of an experiment?

What are your thoughts?

Could be secific to my blog(s) exactly why it'll be good to get some feedback over the 'posting' weekend. :)

Still fresh google goodness here (based on one site).

How fresh? Are you still getting included in minutes? Are you still there shortly after?

I consult for several news sites and their content is still getting indexed almost instantaneously and ranking for relevant niche terms.

What's interesting is that the likelyhood of leveraging the "fresh content boost" having to do with whether or not other sites link to your content is not likely, based on my sample set.

One of the sites is a sports site, whose articles are linked to from various sources within minutes or hours of having fresh content go live, and the other is a site that does not enjoy that luxury (rarely gets its content linked to that quickly if it all) and yet both are still enjoying the "fresh content boost" on a daily basis.

@Hobo Indexed within minutes and remaining for anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Will do some measurements over the weekend and report if things appear different.

Shaun ...our blog posts are not getting indexed quickly, nor are they receiving the freshness boost. They were until recently, so not sure what's changed.

I removed a link to a very questionable site (from a blog post) ... will see if that has any impact.

A post of mine 16 hours old is not in Google's index. Tim Nash confirmed his blog was ok. Jeff you're the first 'other' to notice.

  • I posted a 'normal' post about my chat with Lyndon - NOT INDEXED FOR HOURS
  • I posted a post from leftfield totally unrelated to my site but original with no outgoing links - NOT INDEXED
  • As I said my most recent post (16 hours ago) is STILL NOT INDEXED
No change in rankings or traffic from Google. Toolbar still green. In fact the only change is my posts not getting pushed ino the main index. Weird and worrying.

Up until this week it was write a post and see it in the main index immediately.

Roughly the same here Shaun ... Ruud's post last night (What an SEO Weekend Looks Like) and Tom's post from yesterday (Friday Funnies: First Post) have not yet been indexed.

This post (searchenginepeople.com/blog/i-jeff-quipp-am-not-an-seo-im-an-authority-builder.html) which is a couple days old still hasn't been indexed.

This post (searchenginepeople.com/blog/i-jeff-quipp-am-not-an-seo-im-an-authority-builder.html) from yesterday, has been indexed but no freshness boost.

Caused me to look and see how our Google organic traffic has been affected ... its down by about half. Just started this week ... Tuesday by the look of it. Monday started ok, but then fell off ... funny the post linking out to the poor link was Monday. Wonder if that had anything to do with it.

So, is noone else either than Shaun and I experiencing this?

Hmmmmmmmmmm
