Well done job, DoshDosh. So you have done the stats of the most "Hot" sites.I wish to see which author has the most "HOT" Discussion Submissions? is that possible to work out stats for?I still hope that one day sometime preferably before 2010, Sphinn would give more visibility for Discussion Submissions ;-)A possible solution might be to divide Sphinns front page into two equal sections:- HOT News Story- HOT DiscussionsOr to create a new platform: "Sphinn Discussion Forums".Danny and Rob,Thoughts, please?
Some very interesting stats there - you may want to check on your blogs CSS though as I had to turn off styling in Firefox to stop the visited links from fading into the background.Harith - Making Discussions more prominant on Sphinn is an important matter for us and we will certainly be addressing it in the near future. We do have some big changes coming up already though, so I cant guarantee an instant solution to this matter. The most likely path is to mark posts more prominantly as Discussions and also offer a filter to only display Discussions in a given category or section. If people find these types of stats helpful, I can probably put something together from Google Analytics if theres any information inparticular that people are interested in?
Rob,Thanks for your prompt encouraging reply. Highly appreciated. If possible, I wish to see:- the number of Discussion Submissions submitted in any month of your choice compared to the number of submissions of News Stories.- the percentage of submitted Discussion Submissions that went HOT compared to the percentage of the submitted News Stories that went HOT.Thanks.
@evilgreenmonkey Thanks for the heads up on the CSS. I should know better than to make code changes during the life of a hot post :-)
Nice post, Marios!Id say that at this point, Sphinn is one of the more democratic social networking sites out there, in that even relative unknowns have an opportunity to go hot.I guess the only thing I would add to the post is that there is also a distinction between the top sites that go popular and the top sphinners that have their submissions go hot. Those two things are not one and the same, in that some of the most popular sphinners dont have their own content go hot often (or dont really submit much content) and some of the most popular sites/bloggers dont do much actual submitting.Just my two cents...
