As Danny suggested, this is a practice post to see the new Desphinn feature working. Go ahead, desphinn, I won't take it personally ;)

Can't desphinn.  Keeps telling me that the comment is too long, so I erase a few words, then it says it too short.  Does it need to be either 50 or 200 characters exactly and not a range in between?

If no one sphinns this topic it'll only be open for testing for about 2 minutes :)

If you can't see the new functions I would try a hard refresh - press F5. You may have cached the JavaScript?

Where can we see the number of Desphinns?  Did I miss it somewhere?

thanks Nick, working fine now! the comments on despinns are good for a chuckle...

@DarkMatter Yes I was laughing at some of those :)

@Barry - try the F5 trick, if that doesn't do it - close down your browser and reopen it. JavaScript is cached on your local PC and these scripts have been updated now. You need to get the new version.

So you can Sphinn and desphinn the same story. Does that count as a half sphinn then?

John, my Sphinn button was disabled after I desphunn it and refreshed the page.

Then how did Halfdeck sphinn and desphinn it?

No actual article behind the post gives me peace of mind. Should be the same with quite a lot of posts.

@Purposeinc please no! :) Still with this many De-Sphinns that would be quite an achievement heh - some of the De-sphinn comments are great tho

Additionally. The post is still being ranked by total sphinns. So although this has only 2 or 3 sphinns it is in the 13 sphinn group when sorted by most sphinns.

Weird. I still had the same problem as JohnWeb described. Opera 9.25 here.

For an article that has been despunn so many times and is only showing 4 right now, WHY is it showing up in the list for "Top 10 Most Sphunn In What's New" in the sidebar?

I would think that it would get pulled off of this list.  It may have received a bunch of sphinns but it had them desphunn so the rank should adjust accordingly.

@MarkBarrera It's going hot cuz of the # of comments. A story can go hot based off comments alone.

How many comments does it take for an item to go hot?

from BartGibby 243 days ago #

ummm I think this one is hot already. Let me check the home page.

Its not actaully on the hoem page but it is in the "Top 10 Most Sphunn In What's New" section on the home page. So it is not getting as much attention.

Funny how it really isn't "most Sphunn" but is still in the "most sphunn".

This could still go hot with less than 10 sphinns :-)

Wow, this has been fascinating to watch. I think comments make up about 20 percent of the overall score for something to go hot. I honestly don't know if each comment is effectively equal to a Sphinn or not. If it were, this should have tipped already. Fair to say, you pretty much never see sphinns like this in nature -- so many desphinns with so many sphinns and so many comments. Weird, we'll have to look more at it.

Watching it in "Sphinn Live" also shows the total Sphinns and not the corrected number with the DeSphinns.  Maybe we need some more comments to see what happens.

Hmm. My browser played up after hitting Desphinn, took ages to do anything, and went into "Not Responding" mode several times.  It took a couple of minutes for the page to reload. Very odd.

Seems to be almost OK now, if not a little slow still.  I had to hit the "submit comment" button more than 30 times to submit this comment.
