The cards themselves have received hundreds of reviews and bookmarks and presumably much more traffic than us. In this post I have given some reasons why this was successful and suggested some improvements for future viral campaigns.

It's a smart idea although I think SU users are going to be polarized by such a overt bait. I see a lot of negative reviews although the thumbs up may outweigh the thumbs down. I wonder how much traffic the owner gets..
@DoshDosh
I will publish some traffic figures from the site owners tomorrow, been emailing them about this. Plus an interview with the guy who thought up the idea.
I agree though that SU are undecided about it all. Some things were done very well, others, not so well. As I described in my post, there are lessons to be learnt here for the next person to attempt a StumbleUpon viral.
I was a bit torn on writing this post. On the one hand, I find this very interesting as a marketer but I see the growing number of copycats out there and don't really want to give them more ideas. Especially on how to make this work better.
I have noted in the post that you could do this using the StumbleUpon advertising system. That would address any concerns that Stumble users have (stumble sponsors do not see paid stumble posts). This post could be useful to anyone planning a buzz campaign and thinking about including StumbleUpon.
Just had some traffic figures in for the Joker card (probably the most popular card to date). Referrers numbers were:
Direct (no referrer) 53000
StumbleUpon 37500
Del.icio.us 936

Also just done an interview with the guy who created the viral to get his POV.
