Marty’s judgment this morning was clearly clouded by last night’s red wine and chocolate. "PPC is not easy for people trying to make steady money from affiliate programs." Duh.

Aaron Wall wrote it, not me. Red Wine doesn’t affect the messenger. :)

Great article by Aaron, and there is definitely an element of truth to it (no matter how tongue in cheek it was). I’m sure plenty of PPC’ers were offended, but the fact is that SEO is a superior long term competitive advantage. That’s not to discredit PPC, which can help drive SEO strategy and immediate sales (always important). It’s just that in the end, SEO is far more sustainable.

PPC is great when you can provide a unique product, service or content.  Even if all you provide is a unique and profitable conversion path, you can have a sustainable source of income. When you are doing nothing more than buying keywords and linking to someone else’s product (which anyone can do), why would you expect this to be sustainable long term?Bottom line is that there’s way more to PPC than affiliate marketing.
