Great analysis!
I find this very interesting:"Those factors that have little relevance: [...] 3. The volume of web traffic - neither websites are getting more than 300 visits per day."I actually thought search volume for the specific query is a very strong filter for the appearance of sitelinks. But in this case, virtually every site that grows beyond a minimal threshold of traffic should have sitelinks at least for its own name.
HiI Im Wayne, the author of the article.Search volume is important for the phrase that matches the domain name. As I mention, thats key to Sitelinks. However, overall search volume isnt. Neither of my clients gets more than 300 visits a day.I hope that clarifies things...
If all their traffic comes from searches for their names, thats still just 300 searches a day. But its quite inconceivable that even 50% of their traffic is from this. There should be traffic from other queries, non-SE referrals, bookmarks, type-ins.Distracting that from the daily volume of traffic, in all probability they got sitelinks for queries with probably much less than 100 searches a day.You can correct me if Im wrong because youre familiar with the actual numbers, but I believe if a company is not a very well-known brand, not even 10% of their traffic comes from company name searches.
No, I didnt say all of their traffic comes from searches. Thats not the case for either client.I didnt perform a complete analysis of their back-link anchor text, though a good quarter of their back-links do consists of phrases that include their respective company names. They both have links coming in from a variety of sources. But neither client has a large selection of back-links.In the case of Kapitex, the vast majority of their organic search traffic comes from people searching for them by name...
It took about 3 months for me to get sitelinks for one of my sites to show in the Google SERPs even though they were showing in my webmaster account. This delay is apparently normal as Ive heard from others about a similar delay.
