How much traffic do these social media sites really send? I have come up with a rough guide to how many unique visitors on average you can expect to get from a popular story on some of the top social tagging and news sites. I have worked out my estimates mainly from Google Analytics.

I don’t know on this one. Where’s the evidence? Not that I disagree with the material, but it needs some data/facts to support the "here’s a social site and here’s how much traffic it sends" claims.

Hi Matt, the stats are traffic estimates i.e. on average you can expect to gain between x and x. The stats have been taken from a couple of friend’ blogs which are going popular on these sites all of the time, almost every day.

Hi Eavesy -- I understand that, and like I said, I generally agree with the data. I just think you need to show that to give the article more weight. :-)

Good if this is the traffic I could get because I’m a member of a number of social sites and try to participate to it everyday, as much as possible.
