I like the opinions! It does seem necessary that we start talking about how much self promotion is ok. Hating self promotion is necessary, but at the same time, SOME self-promotion IS necessary. Well thought out post.
In other words, don't shout; whispering makes a bigger bang in social media. (Ergo, don't promote all your stuff.)
Good detailed discussion, with perhaps the biggest message - in social media, promote others more than you promote your own works. That's counter to what is appropriate in traditional media.
