Yes the logic of the NoFollow tag is beyond me, like you said, if you don’t trust a site then why in the name of all that is holy would you link to it and give said page much needed link juice in the first place?!

Agreed. It’s a symtom of a fundemental flaw in the way Google ranks websites, and now we’re all expected to fall into line.

It’s not about trusting sites, it’s about the ability for webmasters to have greater control over the flow of link juice of their sites both internally and externally. If you trust a site, by all means, don’t use a nofollow.

No no no, its all about trusting sites.  That is inherantly what this is all about.  Basically Google are wanting us to do their job for them as they are realising that using links as a hefty part of their ranking factors is just not sustainable.  Basically Google want to have their cake and eat it and we are all expected to fall in line!!!

I think you’re right about that one fireflyseo, google are getting very like M$ in their use of the general public to do their work for them - I really can’t see any use for the nofollow tag except to be used by goooogle as a backup to their pagerank markers.  I would not be at all surprised if they took all this ’nofollow’ data and incorporated in later algo changes!
