Maybe you should alter the script so that Sphinn buttons only show on your site for say the first 7 days after the first-posting date.
@g1smd Your approach is fine too except I'd like to show the button for particularly popular posts regardless of the post's age.
Is there a way to get the number of votes and make a decision based on that?
I don't currently see one.
@g1smd Getting the number of votes and basing the decision to show/hide the button is what the code I've provided does.
Maki, that's something you should learn to live with. Not all stories get thumbs up on SU,Digg and Sphinn all the time. I think it's the webmasters decision as to whether to keep the button or not.
That's why I use a modded version of the Antisocial / Sociable plugin. It makes it possible to Sphinn from the page without a big honking badge of dishonor for unSphunn (or unHot) articles.
I bet with a little finessing, there's a way to drop the "big honkin button" code into specific posts, AFTER they get Hot...
Agreed Kat. 'Sociable Push cx' all the way...
For me, removing the Sphinn beackon, I mean button, (wink) keeps me from wanting to move Page Wankering into Sphinn Wankering. Although getting a Sphinn was certainly schweet, it was becoming a distraction for me.
I would love to have a customizable Sphinn button. The default one does not fit in at all in my blog.
I have been trying to get this story (http://www.3tailer.com/search-marketing/get-indexed-quickly-install-google-analytics) on the homepage but it's impossible to promote it.
That's the post over at: http://sphinn.com/story/30911 I guess.
Oh the irony... an article about hiding the Sphinn plugin for poor performing articles hits the front page of Sphinn. I wonder if Marios ever predicted that...?
