YSMBlog: Following the auction model, we are changing the way we set the minimum bids required to participate in a Sponsored Search keyword market. In the next several weeks, we will start calculating a variable minimum bid for some of the keywords you’re bidding on. That means that sometimes the minimum bid may be lower than 10¢. Sometimes it may be higher. Content Match minimum bids currently will remain at 10¢.

This is going to be a disaster.

I'm happy with no more ten cent minimum, but a can't rely on Yahoo to determine what is quality/relevant and what is not.

I simply don't trust Yahoo to do this (to get it right or even be fair about it).

I agree - I'm a little bit unnerved by what it could do to client campaigns, performance metrics, etc.

I can't wait for $5.00 minimums based on Yahoo's determination of quality.

I was waiting for this to happen ever since Google started their quality-based minimum bids.  Somehow I have a feeling it's all going to revolve around CTR, and how you need to keep using the keyword insert at all times.
