Well, it'll clearly help conversions but I seem to remember an anecdotal report from last year of Hacker Safe itself being hacked. I can't find this in Google, so they've done a good job of reputation management. Either that or my source was full of crap and Hacker Safe remains an impregnable bastion.
Anyway, the main reason we don't use Hacker Safe on our site is because we don't want to tempt hackers. Any site can be hacked, that's just the way it is. In that regard I think that this wasn't the best decision by Yahoo.
Hackersafe is a testament to how perceived trust and conversion rates are directly linked to one another. Never the less, there are other ways of boosting user confidence, cheaper ways, that will give a similar boost.
