Well, itll clearly help conversions but I seem to remember an anecdotal report from last year of Hacker Safe itself being hacked. I cant find this in Google, so theyve done a good job of reputation management. Either that or my source was full of crap and Hacker Safe remains an impregnable bastion. Anyway, the main reason we dont use Hacker Safe on our site is because we dont want to tempt hackers. Any site can be hacked, thats just the way it is. In that regard I think that this wasnt the best decision by Yahoo.
Hackersafe is a testament to how perceived trust and conversion rates are directly linked to one another. Never the less, there are other ways of boosting user confidence, cheaper ways, that will give a similar boost.
