If a site now has 7-8 sitelinks, shouldn’t the old indented listing it used to have go away? How does it benefit the user when the first 9 links of a SERP all point to a single site? Frustrating....

Right. This realy sucks big time. I’m always surprised to find the same site so far below.

Sure but this has much more to do with a websites internal linking and Google’s inability to handle websites linking to the same page 1-2-3 different ways.  Really has nothing to do with Sitelinks at all.  The problem is totally separate.

Jaan, you’re missing the point I’m making. I’m saying that when site links are present, the ability to get that second listing should go away. So, yes, it does have to do with sitelinks. The sitelinks are my whole point. :-)

Damn straight -- I’ve complained about it to Google for years (and don’t expect it will change soon). Sitelinks pretty much make having an indented result unnecessary. It’s all down to how Google does things, and I get the impression it’s not easily fixed. I begged Microsoft not to do the same mistake when they rolled out their sitelinks. Well, so much for that -- happens the same on Live.com.
