Meta Negative Keywords
With all this talk of the noindex tag I thought I would make my own suggestion.

A while back I heard a story from this aid worker who was frustrated by visitors to his site. I can't remember the exact details but he had a blog to bring attention to the adoption agency he worked at Thailand. He was horrified when he found out keywords that most of the visitors to his site were using. Queries like "Thai child sex" for example.

The story sort of resonated with me and I couldn't think of a solution. I'm proposing the use of a negative meta keyword tag. Similar to the meta keyword tag but filled with words that should not be associated with your web site when it is indexed.

Most of us are familiar with negative keywords in our SEM campaigns and how important to relevancy. Shouldn't there be a similar option for SEO?

That's a fascinating idea.

It would be like using negative SEO techniques on your own site. I wonder if there is some combination of techniques (like stuffing irrelevant keywords) that would not penalise your legitimate search results.

I hope Google pick up on this - they already do something similar for Adwords.
