I love how this takes real world scenarios and tries them out in both services. Really brings it home how practical and business-relevant they can be when used correctly. Nice find, Deb!

Here's the single-page version if you don't want to click through all seven sections.

My personal view is that LinkedIn is better for professional stuff. But if you want to throw a cow at someone, Facebook is your place!

It's a good article -- practical.

I think it pays to use both sites -- for different reasons.  LinkedIn has become the de-facto official "online resume."  It's far easier to figure out someone's background from a LinkedIn profile, than from Facebook. It's my go-to source when checking out a professional.

And LinkedIn Answers I have found to be very substantive and results in useful answers.

Facebook is better for groups, staying up to date and for helping publicize events.  And for showing the "fun" side of you.  :)

The fact that it took 7 seconds to load that page at Computerworld and then saturated the CPU is pretty offputing.  I like LinkedIn better and see that they are not standing still in terms of new features.  They also may be focused on two slightly different demographics, which for some folks determines a clear winner.
