Surely it has to come down to the quality of traffic and how much profit you can make from the 10,000 searches compared to 1,000.Ideally youd want 11,000 high-converting clicks! ;)
Isnt it about getting a balance between the two? I would have said target exact matches more strongly as these will have higher conversion rates...
I take my best keywords and test them with all match types...you never know...sometimes that one exact match phrase only gets clicked every now and then, but the conversion rate might be huge.
Having a combination of a unique and match is better. Really depends.
