I love that the avatar of the submitter of this article is a perfect example of the point made in the article. Whether on Sphinn, Mixx, Twitter, or Stumble I always see those red shoes and know who I’m talking to. It’s like proof in the pudding right here.

...just don’t pick one with a creepy mustache.I think the avatar formula is pretty simple. Pick something other than the default and stick with it everywhere.
