There are different ways to go to a website. With the favourites in your browser, with a search engine or with the address bar from your browser.

When I use the address bar I always type the domain name without www. Why? It’s easier…

Of  www  and  non-www, make sure that one redirects to the other. To expose both to the outside world, with both directly serving content, would be an indexing disaster.

If you go with content at  non-www you lose the benefit of being able to use the  site:domain.com -inurl:www  search to spot any content being indexed under alternative sub-domains.

I often type in  domain.com  rather than  http://www.domain.com/  and I expect the site to correctly redirect to the full domain, adding the  www  on the way.
