"When launching the business in 2005, we looked at our competitors and realized that, for the most part, they had built attractive web destinations. However, almost all our competitors had static sites that lacked the ability to connect with customers like a blog can."

Matt, this was a completely awesome article. I LOVE reading about small business success stories. Really, really cool. These folks sound so smart. Lovely to see.

This a great interview... there are a bunch of takeaways for small businesses; especially the flickr/thumbnail thing for any business where there is a visual aspect.  I am going to spend some on this site tonite... and who knows maybe buy a cake... as this is right in my neck of the woods!

Wow, I LOVE the photography component, what a GREAT idea for businesses who would benefit greatly from a blog but don't have a lot of time to devote to writing posts.

What a really great story!  Using their blog to showcase their beautiful cakes is an awesome way to create some buzz.  Love the monkey birthday cake, so cute!  They obviously are very talented in cake decorating and marketing.
