Writing a haiku with its discipline of five sounds/ seven sounds / five sounds would at least slow down the process and allow quality considerations to come into play.

Thanks for sphinning this, jansie. This was the outcome of a mini-rant after seeing that Plaxo is now joining Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter in all wanting me to tell the world what I'm up to.
After calming down and doing a little research, I found that even Rebecca Blood back in 2000 discussing the history of blogging mentioned the possibility of using the haiku. There's nothing new under the sun.

I'm not good at writing Haikus but I will try. Sure it is helpful for quality tweets.
