In the best case, your blog can be the channel for discussions with your audience. Most readers are lurkers, but if you are sufficiently provocative or just plain nice to know, then a few will comment and get the discussion ball rolling.

It's not just doing the kind of blog because everybody does it. It's how you show your readers what your thoughts are.
