Good tips, I have found that the more links the blog post gets the higher the image will rank and getting your images ripped seems to do wonders, I have one client pulling huge amounts of image traffic because their photos have been published all over the place. Also there is no sandbox with Google images its a great way for new sites to start pulling organic traffic fairly quickly.
Great SEO tips for those doing graphics or those specializing with stock photos.
in the past I just stuck some alt text in and forgot about it....but image optimization is becoming more and more important with the use of linkbait and social media. Im still not sure whether the traffic I get from GIS is of any value, seems to do nothing but get my images deeplinked on lame Myspace profiles.
There is a sandbox with images. There was a case with sandboxing a while back google answered directly. I cant remeber the subject. Something to do with a controversial political topic. It may not be the traditional sense of the word but it does go on.
"It may not be the traditional sense of the word but it does go on."Yeah, I dont think its a "sandbox" per se... simply a case that the "images index" is not refreshed as often as the "main index".
From what I have experienced, the text surrounding the images is the most important factor.
Probably one of the better image optimization articles Ive read. The kind of thing Id be happy to offer a client as a suggested read...
Nice organization and referencing!
