This is a great ROI excersize. I am a fan of longtail keywords as they tend to have much lower cpc's and above all, and over time, long tails can generate more traffic from your main 1-3 keyword terms.

Nice quick post by Ann, thanks! One of my readers came up with another interesting approach to this using mind maps, but as I like to point out to my mind mapping friends, the mind map is just different shape for an outline.

The 2008 edition will be released in May. There will be a more advanced course offered as well, but unlike the book, it won't be free.

Great article.  In my opinion, there can't be enough information out there about long tail keywords.
