I don’t totally agree with asking a mathematician about page rank, however, it is something that is inflated because it is one of the few gauges that Google publishes to everyone and because of this, it is taken to the nth degree by most.

Asking a mathematician about PR might make sense if PR still behaved like it did when the Google Boys first published their paper. I don’t think many of us believe that to be the case, however.
