LOL at all these companies who are badmouthing SEO.

they will all be knocking on our doors hat in hand once their competitors are spanking them in the serps.

There was an SEO guy from Amex at our table at lunch today at SES NY.  I asked him a few questions about some of these very things- apparently they've had some turnover there and haven't been able to get a lot of SEO traction in house.  The word 'dabbling' was used.  I didn't have the heart to really press him any further- I chickened out in the name of cordiality.

seems to be a trend these days...deriding SEO while also employing it. The sad thing is they really don't need an incredible link builder or content provider, just a run of the mill seo guy to fix up their on-page indicators.

Makes sense to me.  A lot of these big houses have always had a hard time keeping well skilled SEO's
