How important is using images in your posts? Michaels example is one of many to show the benefits of putting your little 3 minutes worth of effort into adding an image, including locating, cropping and tagging. As Michael puts it, "How nice is it to wake up on Monday morning with a fresh cup of coffee and your image appearing smack dab top and center of the news homepage?"

Personally, I am of the impression that individuals are more apt to be visually stimulating.  Hence, I consend that images, videos, and even audio may turn out to be more effective that simple words alone.

Agree images add visual stimulation and optimisation benefits. But I’d add that it is important to keep the image relevant to the subject matter. It’s obviously not an issue in the example Michael provides, but I’ve seen plenty of bloggers insert random images that have no context to the article. I wouldn’t advocate inserting an image purely for the sake of it.

@JamesDuthie I’m glad you brought that up as it’s an excellent point. One of the challenges many of us face when posting content daily is finding those images of relevance. One tip I can suggest is creating a few template images. For example, a 300x200 pixel image that reads... "Sphinn News" or "The Sphinn Report" or something that at least lends to the brand of the site, blog, post. May seem cheesy, but it’s effective and can lead to better brand awareness if well implemented.
