Do you think it is possible to take a vacation from social media? All those sites and feeds? Not likely, once it is in your bloodstream.

Only if you have a designated email account just for your social media accounts and force yourself not to log in there for a while.

I've been thinking about this too! I find that being offline even for just one day is bad enough in terms of catching up with the online world.

One experiment I'm trying is to re-rank the feeds I read (over 150 of them!) based on priority. This way if I have to catch up with little time, I start at the top and read down. Never should I have an unread feed if I'm reading a lower-priority feed. This has been going on for a week or so and it's doing great. My stress levels after being offline are lower than they've ever been

@MikeDammann
yes, that certainly can help with your email nerves.

@eKstreme
Reranking 150 feeds sounds like fun, but I'm sure it is well worth it once you have it running.

I did spend about an hour on it. What made if easier was that if there were unread posts in the feed, it meant that I didn't care that much about the feed.

Having a designated email address for social media... never thought of that... I couldn't take a vacation from social media.  I'm addicted.
