Wrong promotion of a website (spam, cloaking, hidden keywords, anchor spam etc) could bring to several forms of punishments from Google such as removal from search index, removal from top positions, or decrease of Google Pagerank.

That would be a handy article if it actually mentioned how to bring trust back after a website was penalized in Google.  Nowhere does it mention a reconsideration request, which should fix it, provided you actually clean up the site, in a week or so.
