good article and i do agree that we need look beyond the link and stick to exposure which in turn will build the links that you are looking for...
If a link provides engagement, then youve created something of value.
I agree with bwelford however I agree with doshdosh as well. Too I think there is still something to be said for a big wide, working social community in general that keeps tossing and growing for the good that helps others; that "engagement" that sparks. Maybe that is just too old fashioned?
I think worrying about linking and getting exposure took a lot out of the joy of blogging for me. I have finally gotten into the groove, but only by throwing out all this linking advice. I try to promote people and things that I found meritous, that I think others might get something from. And I think that getting someone like Time to promote you or a bunch of links is no guarantee you can keep peoples interest if youre boring or dont like what youre doing. So I would say first and foremost, blog about something youre comfortable, confident and competent doing and let your reputation grow as you provide value and people start to see you as someone credible and reliable.
"money for nothing with the links for free"I want myI want myI want my link building!
Thanks for Sphinning, doshdosh, and thanks Stoney for the post! If you promote your site effectively, you dont need to do all that "link building."
