Agree with the first 2/3 of this article, though I think they review Quality Score quite unfairly.
The information on how it works is freely available on Google's site (along with many other independent guides), and it works fairly (IMHO) if the advertisers understand it.
I feel little sympathy for advertisers who pay $$$'s per click, because their minimum bids are high (if there are any). There is information freely available on the page that shows the minimum bids, and plenty more within the Learning Centre and Help system.
I couldn't understand why anyone would commit to spending a substantial part of their advertising budget without researching how the system works...
That said, the comments on Broad (Expanded) Matching and Automated Matching are particularly true.
There is no reason (again IMHO) that smaller companies should be at any real disadvantage compared to larger companies, though people using an Agency should have a clear advantage. Google are, in my opinion, quite clear about how the system works, if you can spare the time to read up on it...
