Are you really an expert if you can’t communicate - clearly share - what you know? I wonder. I know plenty of people who have a lot to offer. I know far less who can really share what they know in a way that benefits others. What do you think?

I just got done reading this article before heading over to Sphinn. Its a great question, it will be interesting to see all of the feedback on it.
I shared this one at SU with long comments. Wish they had permalinks there like a regular blog. Posted them at http://flyingrose.stumbleupon.com/ on August 26 at 2:56 p.m. if anyone wants to read them. Can anyone share any protocol when you read/post in multiple places? We dont want duplicate content so posting the same anything more than one place seems counterintuitive. Some sites dont like links so that eliminates that option. Im sure someone who has been at this longer than I have has some good insights they can share.
"can we consider someone with knowledge an expert if they’re unable to communicate their knowledge in a way that helps others?" The only "others" that matter is either your clients or personal income streams. Seeking the approval of "the industry" by sharing your competitive advantage and threatening both the proceeding can seem a little misplaced. Thats why pretty much most SEO blogs never give out any really useful competitive information. There are a lot of basic tips, and general positioning - but no one really gives away real secrets on blogs. 2c.
"Thats why pretty much most SEO blogs never give out any really useful competitive information." Brian, I wouldnt necessarily assume most SEO blogs have any really useful competitive information to give. In fact, I would go as far as to say I think most SEO bloggers try to cover up their lack of useful information by creating an aura of authority using rehashed information or by talking about "Google is evil" political BS, a discussion that requires neither SEO knowledge nor experience. I do agree that the real purpose of most SEO blogs is to gain attention by any means necessary. To that end, SEO information is optional.
