Nice to see you flexing your social news chops her more Brent. :) Thanks for the cool content.
well hey just cause I love a good rant... the best anti-Google post I was on this said the following;
"Yeah, I love it. A bunch of ugly, aspirin-taking, limousine-riding, worldly-ignorant morons without an ounce of historic (or contemporary) knowledge making a STATEMENT.
Which is what? That they HAVE CONTROL -- like so many other idiots throughout the recorded history of mankind over some over-rated, short-lived method of communication -- over what?
If anything at all, it's a debasement for Google, not a political advancement for anyone who doesn't happen to live in the complete and utter fantasy of southern California.
The vast majority of Google employees couldn't save themselves from a summer breeze or walk two miles on a snowy road if they had to -- because they never had to make lunch before, perhaps.
Maybe Serge and Brin have gone totally nuts, I don't know. I don't really care. But when international search engines start to flex their muscles for political reasons -- no matter who they are -- they're dabbling in foolish and dangerous little thrusts designed to impact popularity, not sensibility.
Those who suffer are those who THEY actually believe they are "helping".
To me that is the pinnacle of stupidity and the definition of pseudo-intellectual pricks throughout the planet. "
.... I do also concerns about the motivations :0) ...and of course love a good rant
Sounds like just a rant to me.
They did Google UK on Friday:

Actually thought I'd been hit with malware at first, especially when the link to Google.com was a broken redirect.
The real story is that on Friday, Google.com was completely inaccessible to the UK IMO. That's potentially one way to save energy. :)
Good thing Google's participated during the Earth Hour. :)
so uh...how many people do you know who
1. knew anything about the earth hour
2. turned their lights off?
yeah, me neither.
