This is all very true.  Even if it's only a cry of despair as you run into some frustration.  Usually you'll get at least one response from someone who just 'happens to be passing by'.  Sometimes it can be exactly the advice you need.  Sometimes it's just to say, I had that problem and haven't found the solution yet.  e.g. I was blocked out of StumbleUpon this morning and every link to their website brought me to an incorrect password.  At least I got two other people who had run into the same problem to give me solace.
