I had surmised this but a commenter on one of the blogs from Germany had spotted the same thing.

I see it too now. I don't think it's effecting anything if you use the All in one SEO plug-in for wordpress though? at least from what I see on my blog, the pages I've actually used the all in one SEO plug-in on, it doesn't show any date.

I don't find that is the answer, Mike.  I use the same plug-in and gradually more and more of the blog posts are being switched to date first followed by a reduced length snippet.
