Images don't help your articles rank higher (there is a but...)

Google News currently can't fetch revisions to articles
Timing your articles for specific releases won't help it rank better in Google News

You need text in your articles, Google can't include a picture with no text in the news index

Google Webmaster Tools has a section for News content, so you can see Google News specific errors

Google Sitemaps do not help with boosting the ranking of an article in Google News

A site redesign, specifically new site and url architecture, may impact your performance and indexing by Google News

Google AdSense has no impact on your Google News ranking

Fact: Google is taking over the world

Google News seems to have some of the same built-in restrictions that the traditional newspapers have.  Hope there are just as many people trying to figure out how to break down the walls around such 'walled gardens'.  The Internet really can flatten the playing field, provided you go with the flow.

Some of it is kinda stating the obvious - but you can see there would be some people who would project their own aspirations on Google News.

Got to admit, I really feel for the pressures the Google News team are under - ever since Google Universal was launched last June, becoming a news source has become an increasing target for marketing purposes - with the same remedial, often spammy, mindset at work.

Keep up the good work Google News - you've got a diffult job. :)
