A couple of my thoughts/questions:Is Googles statement "We want to get you out of Google" changed? In other words: with Googles present and future activities, like for example YouTube hosting video content, Google News hosting content and the secondary searchbox, will Google become a media company (or will it stay a navigation/aggregation service)?Assuming that Googles data will be shared as part of Dataportability and OpenSocial, how will Google compete on other things than having data? When can all AdWords advertisers expect the ability to place video and other visual ads in Google Search?
Id ask:Are you going to keep playing the UI and grab 2nd and 3rd click data (and revenues)? Is the searchbox within search results really helps the user or mostly helps you collect search intentions outside the google network? What types of data can we expect to see in the future (near and far) search results? Trading platforms? user DOCS and CRM data? Full IYP? Bank status? Vertical info? Shared search/products results from friends? Full google browser with personalized aggregatores, services and filters? will regular search always have a minimum of 8 organic results? 7? 5?
Id like to know whether/when they plan to make Universal Search results location targetted, rather than serving up US news, blogs, images and videos when the user is looking for local content.Have fun in Sydney, Im not jealous one bit :oP
The last entry in the Google Librarian Central weblog was Friday, June 29, 2007, and included the statement "This summer, our blog team is taking a break to think about the best ways to communicate with you and keep you updated on whats happening with Google." In the last few months several librarians have posed the question Whats going on with Google and librarians? and one cynical response has been that now librarians have given Google access to their collections theyve lost interest in us. Why hasnt the blog been updated, why have the concerns not been addressed, why have the questions been ignored and does Google intend to do anything to rescue their tarnished image with librarians?
When are we going to get a way of easily reporting scrapers outranking our content?
what metrics are used to determine if the quality score algorithm improves quality and not just raises minimum bids.
What is the biggest threat (or nuisance) that Google faces in improving user experience?
I am from Singapore. How can I get to watch SMX Sydney show?Ok, here are my two questions. How did Google brainstorm a new idea, and finalize it as a product to be released? Whenever I am playing with Google web applications as well as windows applications, they always give me a feel that they are very stable programs! Moreover, you seem to have a very good brand-orientation for the products to by seen as part of Google. I tried almost every Google application that I can have my hands on.How does google maintain the quality of being fair in its work in both its search results and presenting information such as Google news? It seems to be very fair and impartial to be looked upon as a guidance for the Internet. It looks as if there is a security guard over-looking every programmer to make sure they are doing their jobs well...
When can advertisers opt out of expanded broad match?
Will Google EVER add a planner/to do list to the toolbox?
Something you may want to ask is that there is a growing perception that Googles Webmaster Tools are increasingly used by Google for anti-spam purposes - and that even websites that consider themselves reasonably clean and useful are more likely to suffer from some form of negative effect because using the tools provides extra scrunity by Google. In short, an increasing perception that using Webmaster Tools invites an extra level of risk that is negated by avoiding using webmaster tools. Is this perception causal or coincidental, ie, are Google really lifting extra data from Webmaster Tools for search quality purposes, or is it just because nowdays webmasters are more likely to use webmaster tools and Google is more likely to fight spam more aggressively?Theres probably a more succinct way to put that - but, sheesh, its getting late. :)
How soon is Google rolling out the ability to exclude competitors from seeing your ads and potentially click on them
I would like to know if Marissa can talk about the most exciting project she has seen in the last few months from inside Google.
Hi Danny,In regard to Google Maps, Id like Marrisa to tell us:1. Do duplicate descriptions of your business (in your business profiles that are found on different websites, like Yahoo Local, InsiderPages, AskCity, etc) help or hurt your rankings in Google Maps. Is there any benefit to making them either the same or unique?2. Do more web references (that is, web pages that talk about your business) help you in Google Maps? If so, does the quality of those web references matter? And how?3. Why is there sometimes a large discrepancy between the results displayed in the local 10 pack at the top of the blended SERPs and the top 10 results found within Google Maps for the same search query?4. If Google Maps finds or receives differing data about a business, what trumps what?Good luck! Mary
Google still states on its website that Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. Is this still the case? I think theyve become a different company. Perhaps all their stakeholders would benefit from a better understanding of what theyre trying to do.
How is Google hoping to keep up their ad revenue? Adsense aside, on search with things from their local results and "product search" appearing above the search results and ads, areas that previously brought in a lot of revenue are slowly getting less and less adwords clicks(like mortgage). Are there any plans to help combat the effect of these new additions. while keep use quality up?
Damn, you are lucky. I have such a crush on her. Will you be taping the interview?Currently the threshold settings for pages getting into the main index are set in such a way that people who own thousands of disposable domains with auto generated or scraped content have a serious and distinct advantage over those who own large individual domains that they are trying to focus on. Yes, Google did treat the way that the supplemental index is treated, and it does help with very long tail phrases that might otherwise not have a chance, but it is still more desirable to be in the main index. It is much much much easier to get 8-10 low quality pages on 1,000 domains indexed in a non-supplemental (ie. meaningfully searchable) manner than it is to get 8k-10k pages the same way on a single quality site. Are there any plans to use any indicators other that raw link juice, or depth of the page from a link source, for determining which results go into the main index in the near future?
Flat out, what the heck is going on with this Dewey update? LOL
Question: Why does Google say "we dont want to index your search results" and then there comes Google Bot and fills out by Wordpress search form and indexes it.
Hey Danny,Did you get a chance to ask any of these questions? Where can we find the answers? Thanks!
