This is a very good intro on optimizing for B2B sites. One thing we like to do with analytics is to drill down on our keywords in Google Analytics. Well drill down to non-paid keywords, then exclude our branded terms. Then we look at the traffic for this drill down. This gives us a feel for how we are doing on the non-branded non-paid traffic, which is the core of the SEO optimization especially for B2B. Hopefully this helps some n00bs add a research sequence to their toolbox.
Good article, Galen. Well worth a Sphinn.
Thanks, Matt
pretty basic stuff, but helpful
I think i have to keep this in mind while working on SEO for my b2b portal website. Thanx for the info
Some great reminders of things to watch out for when trying to optimize a B2B site. As basic as some of these tips are, its often the basics that get forgotten about when youve got a million and one other things to sort out on a large site.
Many of my clients are B2B and almost every audit began the same way: You have duplicate page titles and no meta descriptions.
Very true. Often pages are created and administrated with a "send it and forget it" ideology. Many people just dont care about fine tuning and tweeking theis landingpages.
I am always amazed how many businesses ignore the basics of good on page SEO. Even technology companies have horrible SEO. One the other hand it does create a lot of opportunity for SEOs etc. Testing non PPC landing pages is a huge potential for SEM/SEOs. Great advice!
