Yes, copywriting is quite often neglected. An observation I made is that good writing guidelines, as promoted in WCAG for example, are often in phase with good SEO writing : front-loading, use of a clear language... Tough, i felt while reading you post that the emphasis on "seo copywriting" was pretty strong and "smelt" SEO too much IMHO ;)
