Ah, youth. 13 years ago I started my company with a spare room in my house, a credit card (limit: $1500) and a computer (Pentium 75 mhz, Windows 95). If I'd known then what I know now, would I have gone into this business? I don't know. But here's some wisdom I wish I had back then

This is all very true. I don't even know why they give out degrees in marketing. The simple fact is either you know how to sell to people and you know what people want or you don't. Another thing that I think should be in here is probably to stick with the times. If you let time and technology get ahead of you your competition will be too. Check out new technologies and make sure you at least understand them or you're useless and will be out of a job in no time.

Loved this. It's all so true, although I don't think my family think I'm scum. Interesting choice of pic to illustrate that point though, particularly as I live within spitting distance of the original village of Borstal.

My 'scum' remarks are of course a bit extreme. I DO wonder if my family wishes I went into law instead, though.

Best line:  "See that little thing on your desk with a number pad and a handset? That's a phone. Pick it up once in a while and speak to people. They love that."  Something to remember in this day and age of email, Twitter and other electronic messaging.

Thank's for all the tips they are helpful. My favorite tip is #24 it's so true for most people it's a decision maker. Meaning whether or not they will buy your products or join your business oppurtunity. Something that was not on the list is to be CONSISTENT and be ready to start.
