Before diving in, I'll add that some of these are workarounds to features we don't have yet but plan to add soon. If you have feature suggestions, here's the wishlist discussion:

We have lots of comments happening here, and they're all great. Unfortunately, the comments feed isn't yet ready. But there's an easy way to keep up with the latest. Use the Sphinn Live area. Look here:
http://sphinn.com/comments
Those are all the comments recently posted to the site. Until the feeds going, that's a handy way to see at a glance what people are saying across all topics.
I also suspect that many people don't realize how useful it is to sort the What's New page or perhaps even why to use it at all!
What's New shows you the latest things that have been submitted, so that you can Sphinn the items you like. By default, we show the most recent things added to What's New. However, you can also use the "Popular" link at the top of the list to see all the What's New items by number of Sphinns they've received. Look at this:
http://sphinn.com/upcoming/mostpopular/category/AllCategories
Now you know what's most popular in What's New. And if those items get additional Sphinns and/or have commenting activity, both those factors along with how recently they've been submitted can help them move to the Hot Topics page.
Back to the Live page, be sure to see the main part here:
http://sphinn.com/live
I have that open on one of my screens, and it's fun to watch everything that's going on -- sphinns, submits and comments.

Making life easier for both your site visitors and those just wanting to submit here from their browser :)
Congrats by the way Danny!
You can now list the upcoming sphinns by popularity:

I sure feel like a voyeur watching the Live page!
:)
Love the profiles, this site rocks thanks for the info. and the top site Danny.
Just found this site. It is really nice. Thanks for the tips and for creating this awesome website. Is this gonna be the "Digg-killer"?
Is it just me that sees the cogs moving on the left of the homepage when I'm reading the central column? It's either magic eye trickery or me going mad (probably the latter).
That Live page is great!
I hope it's not the "DIGG-killer" because most of the commenters on that site are either half-retarded or socially inept to a painful point, and need to stay there. I hope this will be more of a "gathering of the great SEO minds" instead, where we can all come to discuss new and emerging trends in our little niche market.
I'm fairly new to the scene and hope I can offer some good discussion or tips of my own once I get a little more comfortable. Shout out to the greats of SEO like Rand Fishkin who's stellar advice pushed me into suggesting an SEO package for our company, and now I'm head of the department. :D
Am I just blind, or is there no link (other than here on this page) to the Sphinn Live section? I have to keep finding this page to remember how to get to the page. Although, of course, now that I'm actually thinking about it, looking at the url...it's simple enough to remember. Duh! Still, I think it should be a tab or something, otherwise lots of people won't know about it.
I wrongly sphinn'ed an irrelevant news story, how do I remove it?
Hi Danny,
I feel clueless. I can't figure out how to actually give a Sphinn. I assumed clicking the "Sphinn" button would do it, but I don't appear in the list of people who "sphunn" the post. I looked for "how to sphinn", but can't find anything.
I'm logged in, so what am I doing wrong?
Click on the Sphinn link under the button.
Thanks for all the hints Danny. I really appreciate it.
Some other tips that will help you avoid the wrath of the sphinn community(although we're truly an amiable bunch, even myself I like to think)
I don't want to make anyone afraid to submit, but I'd like to throw out some precautions.
1) Do not submit a homepage of any site. Just articles.
2) Don't submit a blatant plug for anything. Especially if it's solely to make money. Especially if it's a "too good to be true" offer.
3)Space your submissions out. It kinda sucks seeing one person 4 times in a row on the upcoming feed.
