Dosh, I think this may depend on your area of operation. In my blogging niche of forex trading I am yet to meet anyone who would rather blog than trade the market themselves. People blog because they want to share ideas but the main focus is still trading. aboslute links:   Because lame site scrapers wont fix the links, meaning, these clone sites/pages will link back to you, which not only gets you free inbound links, but also looks like they are citing you as an originator of the article.
