Over the last few days I’ve noticed a couple of what I believe to be spam submissions to Sphinn with links to topgear.com, the official website of the BBC TV show fronted by Jeremy Clarkson.

It certainly looks that way for sure. It makes me wonder how much control a company has over it's marketers and what their marketing strategies entail. I mean, do they really have any clue that their employess / affiliates are actullay damaging their reputation this way? hmmm.

I've had my online communities spammed plenty times by BBC, ITV, Channel 4 & 5.

Problem is clueless public relations agencies and production companies, who think community spamming is "getting the word out".

2c.

Even big companies like BBC (no, actually ESPECIALLY big companies like BBC) can be fooled by clueless marketers.

I can not imagine any officials at BBC intended to spam sphin & co.

Hi Sphinn Community,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.  Clearly, these two postings were submitted in error to your online marketing community and were not intended as spam.  We'll do our best to avoid making similar postings to Sphinn in the future.

Best Wishes,

BBC Top Gear
