Comscore reports starting 1/08 implied Google’s search volume was heading south. Many analysts interpreted this to mean Google’s Q1 2008 would suffer. That’s a big WOOPS according to The Wall Street Journal and AdGooroo. David Szetela adds useful analysis to the ongoing dialog.

Interesting insight by David, as usual.  I would stop short of saying that comScore was "the main culprit," but certainly one of the bigger ones.  I think a lot of folks were getting "distracted" by Mircohoo talks as well, and a good earnings report sort of reminded everyone who is boss.I also agree with David’s summary explaining that there is a lot of potential in Google (in the form of alpha and beta projects as well as incubators).  Tie that into providing ads in more cool places during more appropriate moments, and there is a ton of potential...
