A fully optimized Local Business Profile contains a well-crafted business description, containing a unique selling proposition based on market and keyword research, domain name and email cross branding (including generic domains), authentic testimonials, and all permissible media including photos and videos.

This is on top of all the basic contact, product, and services information. A fully realized business description in the right category is the key to the free directory kingdom.

This gets sphunn just for being local. Who's in local on sphinn? I know there's at least 6 of us that are active in the space.

So many local businesses really miss the boat on this one.

Thanks for posting this.  Its an excellent writeup covering all angles of free directory listing.

This is a pretty darned comprehensive post.  Partly tho because it assumes you know nothing about copywriting or SEO... @planetc1 We do local submissions and profile management for our SEO clients.

@planetc1 Eric Lander is local too :)

This is one of the most comprehensive posts I've seen in a good while, especially for the SEJ competition,  and Steven is more than welcome to contribute in the future.
