Foreign Language SEM? Har du gjort det?
Before I was a search marketer I was a Military Intelligence Analyst/Linguist (surprisingly good training for SEM) and I have always wanted to get more into foreign language SEM.
Has anybody tried it out or had much success with it? There's huge populations of non-native English speakers and just plain non-English speakers out there that we should probably be thinking about.
I've run some ads with Korean, Swedish, Japanese and Arabic headlines with mixed results... anywhere from no clicks to too many.
Anybody else trying this kind of stuff?

In our experience (limited to European languages), most non-English SEO is very much like shooting fish in a barrel. Lots of stuff long demoted within the English language context will still work e.g. in German, Italian, Spanish, etc.
But then, of course, we're generally considered black hats -- LOL.
Yes! I do SEO and SEM for Danish sites, successfully ;-)
Work fine :) It's even easier to do SEO and SEM on a local language :)
Cool, all very encouraging... I guess the hardest part is having or contracting the linguistic skills.
Non English stuff is generally not that competitive. While it has some hard spots for sure, but it is now relatively easy to rank for med competitive phrases.
But yes, there might be a problem if you dont know the language :)
But Given that Google has/will come to the most used languages, I think it'd make sense to use the knowledge gained in the English language market to rank high elsewhere :)
