About the typo idea I liked a lot, but then you will need a list of typo's on the keyword that you are focussing and every person thinks different when comes to typo's. It will be good to have a tool that will give you typo's from a keyword based on what people search (Like Google keyword tool but in a typo version).

Assuming you want to do keyword research and/or find the strongest of the typo pages, then yes. Otherwise, not really. FYI: You can build a typo tool based on what currently exists for auto-genning typos from a word list then scraping SERPs for the most common occurences. N grams might also be useful here.
