Now don't tell me we don't count page views nowadays anymore as this is about news and online newspapers for example, not AJAX apps.
I consider this spam, because it is paid placement of the topic/post to sell a seminar. I recognize not everyone thinks it's spam, so I just exercise my desphinn. 15:1 so far in favor of promoting it.
It is paid placement, and therefore technically spam. Service sounds interesting, though. While I feel some compulsion to DeSphinn, have decided to leave it as is after including this comment.
I admit that I wasn't sure myself if it's OK with Sphinn. On the other hand it's not "spam" as it has a value on its own. The only difference to the usual "I submit myself" Sphinn posts is that it's not self-promotion but promotion of somebody else. Plus there is the full disclosure which often is left out by some colleagues.
Now as often the case in social media the negative votes come from users who rarely contribute and thus I do not have the impression that I have gone too far with this submission. Correct me if I err.
I find comments like this disappointing. I've been a user of sphinn from the beginning - but I rarely contribute because I am not confident that my opinion has anything to add to the discussion.
If social media sites like Sphinn are to avoid becoming cliquey hang-outs for the "In-crowd" there needs to be just as much space for people to exercise their opinion in the negative as the positive.
Kudos to dylantovey. As for this part:
" the negative votes come from users who rarely contribute and thus I do not have the impression that I have gone too far with this submission. Correct me if I err."
I am not King Sphinn but my opinion is: consider yourself corrected. If you haven't got quality to submit, don't submit. If there is a shortage of good posts something will be done about it.
