I found it very interesting when UOP bought the naming rights to that stadium. I usually hate it when commercial interests buy naming rights -- can you imagine a Pringle’s New Fangled Potato Chips Symphony Hall? I don’t doubt something like that will happen sooner rather than later. The last time Boston proper had an American football team (the Breakers of the USFL) they played at Boston University’s stadium. Of course the Patriots play at a stadium named for deodorant and razor blades, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were still professional teams that borrow a university’s stadium. So I can imagine people arriving at University of Phoenix stadium for a Cardinals game thinking that it’s the school’s stadium rather than a naming rights contract, and wondering, "So where’s the rest of the university?"

It was almost named "Pink Taco Stadium." I kid you not, see the story here: http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/stories/2006/08/21/daily10.html
