Great thorough article, taught me a lot about PPC I didnt know.
There really is no one like Aaron Wall ... extraordinarily detailed and researched article that attempts to assign a dollar value to having a top Google ranking.I had textbooks in college that werent as thorough as this article! Great job Aaron.
Great article! Nice to see in these numbers that Google isnt settling to just be the bulk ad king but the relevent ad king, and along with it the $$$ king. I dont think they are monitizing their 411 service yet though. Are they waiting until the automation is tweaked enough that it doesnt have to ask you 3 or 4 times for the name? Hmmmmm. I called another free directory assistance, 800-411-SAVE and they were using people (it was ad supported too). But then again, Google uses their 411 for research on voice recognition so there is value there too.
There is a lot of information here. Im definitely going to have to spend some time re-reading and digesting this info. It is amazing to see the amount of info/data here that Aarons compiled - he really knows his stuff. Thanks for sharing.
When I grow up, I want to write epic blog posts like Aaron. In all seriousness, though, its ironic that he put this together, because it mirrors some internal efforts that are going on at my agency to provide a holistic viewpoint on the value of a top ranking(s) in both SEM and SEO combined. Its all about share of voice, baby!
Fantastic research effort. I am already doing a lot of the things mentioned, but there are always a few more parts to add into a search strategy :)
This is a great post by Aaron Wall on the real worth of topping Googles SERPs. Thanks a bunch for sharing!
Thanks for the Sphinns and the kind comments everyone. :)
I’ve found that sometimes a good visual can make all the difference to a blog post, so I’m always sure to include at least one. They brighten the place up a little too. -Top google rankings
